FAQs

Grip socks have silicone grip on the sole and heel that holds your foot against the inside of your boot, so it slides around less when you sprint, stop, turn and strike the ball. Normal football socks have no grip at all.

That's why so many players now wear grip socks on their feet and a sleeve or cut-down team sock over the top. Pro-Grip Socks are made for exactly that.

They're designed to do one job: stop your foot sliding around inside your boot. If your foot moves about in normal socks, especially on sharp turns and quick stops, grip socks are the simplest fix.

To keep the grip working, wash them without fabric softener, which leaves a film on the silicone.

Put your grip socks on first. Then either cut the foot off your team socks so they become a sleeve, or wear a pre-cut sleeve like Pro-Cut Sleeves. Your shin pads slide in between, and a strap or tape at the ankle stops it all slipping. From the outside it looks like one sock.

Yes. The Laws of the Game say anything worn on the outside of your socks, like tape or a sleeve, must be the same colour as the part of the sock it covers. So choose sleeves that match your team socks.

Some leagues and competitions have their own kit rules, so check with yours if you're not sure.

Normal football socks are long, cover your shin pads and have no grip. Grip socks are crew length, with silicone grip on the sole and heel to stop your foot sliding in your boot. Most players now wear both: grip socks on the foot and a sleeve on top in their team colour.

Pro-Grip Socks, Pro-Cut Sleeves and SockLock are one size, fits most adults, with a stretch fit. If a sleeve feels a bit long, fold the bottom over, keeping any vents at the back of your calf. Stealth Guards measure 5cm x 8cm. We don't make kids' sizes at the moment.
